Prototype and new digital format production lab
The aim of this lab is to become a reference area within the Technology Park of Sardinia for the knowledge, development and testing of multimedia works that combine unique artistic content with the use of innovative technologies.
The aim of this initiative is to create high-quality work in terms of both technology and contents, so as to achieve the coupling of creativity and technology which is mutually fruitful and brings new ideas and innovation to both art and technology.
The lab has a twofold nature, since it is both a factory for new contents, new productions and new formats and a technology research lab, able to develop and integrate solutions geared to the specific features of the new media.
In particular the lab:
- supports lab users' routine activities, enabling them to increase the volume and quality of production through research and recourse to cutting-edge technologies
- encourages the testing and validation of new production, distribution and viewing models in the field of new media
- provides the technology infrastructure for demonstration activities making it easier to involve leading international partners in high-quality projects.
Lab activities include:
- creation of an open, intra-operable, open-source Digital asset management platform accessible via the Web and enabling content sharing by user communities
- collaboration with companies in the cluster project "New media contents, formats and applications", which, through tutorial and experimental activities and relying on lab equipment, enables the businesses concerned to expand their know-how in the content production area, also through the creation of prototypes
- support to development and innovation projects proposed by companies on multimedia content production and management.
