On 25 March 2011 at 11:00, a seminar entitled "Traditional Chinese Medicine in the EU: does it have a Future?", organised by Sardegna Ricerche and promoted by the Enterprise Europe Network, will be held at the Technology Park of Sardinia in Pula.
The seminar will give an overview of traditional Chinese medicine practice in the EU, with particular reference to the UK, and highlight related current problems. Research at King's College London is addressing some of these problems through the application of so-called 'omics' technologies, notably high field nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and metabolomics, both in vitro and in vivo. Moreover, hidden correlations are being discovered by means of in-silico methodologies using virtual screening and Random Forest modelling approaches that suggest relationships between Chinese terminology and western medical practice.
Prof. Hylands will present the results of his research work suggesting several priorities both in the field of drug discovery and in the practice of complementary and alternative medicine.
The seminar is part of the series "Scientific Seminars in Biomedicine" totalling nine events scheduled from February to October 2011.
The official language of the seminar is English.
