Since it manages the local centre of the Technology Park of Sardinia specialised in applied biotechnologies, Porto Conte Ricerche promotes the clustering of public agencies, businesses and science & technology players to generate a knowledge-based economy and build a local network for innovation and support to industry.
The aim of this policy is to create a technology cluster in northern Sardinia, bringing together the many local research centres and businesses, which today make up an "emerging or potential".
Most of Porto Conte's cluster-building activities are based on programmes defined and implemented together with public and private players, which over time have developed research lines in strategic sectors covered by the cluster, such as agro-industry, the environment and biodiversity.
