Governance

Sign of Sardegna DistrICT
The governance bodies of Sardegna DistrICT are:
- Sardegna Ricerche’s Technical Management Committee
- ICT District's Scientific Director
- Laboratories' Steering Committee
- Lab Management Team
- Lab Manager.

Sardegna Ricerche's Technical Management Committee
- The TMC is responsible for ICT district's strategic planning: it defines objectives, activities and available resources and submits them to the Measure coordinator.
- The TMC also approves the activity plan of Sardegna DistrICT and each laboratory, and the related budget.
- The TMC allocates investment and operational costs on the basis of the financial resources provided and of the financial rules of Sardegna Ricerche.

ICT District's Scientific Director
- The Scientific Director is appointed by Sardegna Ricerche's Technical Management Committee.
- The Scientific Director supports the scientific planning activity performed by Sardegna Ricerche's Technical Management Committee and by the Laboratories' Steering Committee.
- The Scientific Director identifies, in collaboration with Lab Managers, new themes and research areas for the labs and the district.

Laboratories' Steering Committee
- It consists of the Lab Managers (each leading an individual Lab Management Team), the Process Manager of Sardegna Ricerche and the District’s Scientific Director.
- It meets not less than once a month to define and review the district's scientific and operational policies, receive progress reports from individual labs, and identify possible activities or projects to be implemented in cooperation by different laboratories.
- The Laboratories' Steering Committee defines the district's strategic research guidelines and areas and identifies possible synergies with research centres and universities.

Lab Management Team
- Each Lab Management Team is made up of the Lab Manager and a further three members, appointed respectively by Cagliari University (or by CRS4 if the Lab Manager is from Cagliari University), by Sassari University and by Sardegna Ricerche.
- The team meets once a month to plan the Lab's scientific activities, monitor the progress of projects and activities, and review the activities carried out on the basis of the instructions given by the Lab Manager.
- The team chooses the themes of cluster projects in order to develop, together with groups of enterprises willing to participate, research and technology transfer projects in the lab's target sectors.
- The team also organises and supports economic outreach initiatives (meetings, conferences, seminars, publications) which illustrate the activities performed, targets reached and results achieved by the labs, promotes synergies with other projects at cluster level (research funding calls) and other regional research systems (bioinformatics, alternative energy sources, material, agri-food, etc.), and identifies possible avenues of collaboration with research institutions and universities at regional, national and international level.

Lab Manager
- The Lab Manager is appointed by Sardegna Ricerche's Technical Management Committee.
- The LM implements and coordinates projects according to the instructions provided by the Lab Management Team.
- The LM reports, at least once a month, on the status of projects implemented by the lab.
- The LM coordinates the work of lab staff, plans and organises the lab's research activities and authorises missions and duty travel, if coherent with the lab’s objectives and activities, in accordance with the Regulation on the reimbursement of mission and duty travel expenses.
- The LM is responsible for the correct use of assets, equipment and materials provided to the lab, and organises work groups on projects or orders placed with the lab.
- The LM prepares information materials on the lab's activities.
- The LM proposes the themes and dates of promotional events illustrating achieved objectives and results, also providing a draft outline/agenda.
