Sardegna Ricerche at CeBIT 2009

From 3 to 8 March, Sardegna Ricerche will be present at CeBIT 2009 in Hannover, taking part in the world's most prestigious trade fair for IT and Telecommunications, an event which each year attracts more than 480,000 visitors from 80 countries, featuring 6,000 exhibitors and a variety of events offering excellent opportunities for high-level networking. This year's hot topics are: Webciety, a neologism born from the union of "World Wide Web" and "society" representing the way in which the Web is transforming itself from a network of files to a network of people (social network); and Green IT, i.e. the set of IT solutions linked to clean energy and energy saving.
Sardegna Ricerche participates in the CeBIT in the framework of its initiatives aimed at promoting Sardegna DistrICT, the Sardinian ICT district, comprising technology labs that are a true hotbed for R&D and experimentation of innovative applications and services, grouping the activities and scientific and technological expertise of enterprises, universities and research centres.
The Sardinian exhibition stand, located within the “Spazio Italia” organised by the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade (ICE) covering 380 sqm of floor space in pavilion 9 of the trade fair, is devoted to ICTs, telecommunications, software and associated services, and includes Sardinian enterprises, university spin-offs and research centres, some of which are tenants of the Technology Park at Pula (Cagliari).
Each exhibitor will present its projects, products and applications within the stand or in dedicated seminars and will be available to contact possible financial and commercial partners. In addition to Sardegna Ricerche, the stand will include 10 Sardinian organisations: FlossLab, Ablativ and Agiletec (a spin-off of Cagliari University); Axis Strategic Vision; Akhela; Prossima Isola; S. BIO-T; CNIT; the PRA research team from Cagliari University and CRS4 (Center for Advanced Studies, Research and Development in Sardinia).
Some Sardinian organisations will also take part in CeBIT Future Match, organised by the Enterprise Europe Network, of which Sardegna Ricerche is a member through the CINEMA Consortium. Future Match is a brokerage event providing a platform for exhibitors and visitors at the fair to find partners in Europe for technology-oriented partnerships and research cooperation in the field of information and communication technologies.
