Description
On Wednesday April 7, 2010, an international conference entitled "Genomics of Pig (Sus scrofa): Evolution and Diversity" will be held at Porto Conte Ricerche, from 09:30 am to 05:00 pm.

The meeting is organised by the Dipartimento di Zoologia e Genetica Evoluzionistica, University of Sassari and the Department of Animal Science and Institute for Genomic, University of Illinois.

Main aim is to share advances in pig genomics and recent findings on evolution and diversity of Sus scrofa (domestic pig and wild boar).

Knowledge of the genome sequence of these animals creates new opportunities to study biodiversity in domestic breeds and the phylogeography of wild boar populations. Some speakers are members of the Swine Genome Sequencing Consortium, that has recently completed the sequencing of the pig genome.

The detailed programme, including names of the speakers and titles of the seminars, is available below under related documents.

Participation to the meeting is open.
Official language: English.
