Genotyping and massive sequencing

The Genotyping and massive sequencing platform offers a range of innovative genomic characterisation techniques to Technology Park tenants and carries out experimental research programmes based on bioinformatic prediction, in order to test hypotheses based on current data and identify new targets of biomedical interest.
These activities mainly concern genetics (high processivity genotyping) and gene expression (microarray and Real Time PCR).

The platform provides partnerships, scientific and technological know-how, advanced plant and equipment for biomedical research in general, and personalised medicine in particular.

Research projects aim to:
- understand the genetic basis of diseases
- understand the genetic basis of response to drugs
- identify new genetic markers having clinical relevance
- identify new pharmacological targets
- engineer new pharmacologically relevant compounds

Equipment
1. Affymetrix platform for gene expression and genotyping analysis
2. 7900HT Fast Real-Time PCR system for validating biallelic polymorphisms
3. DNA amplification and sequencing apparatuses.
